Deleting View Folder

Jan 28, 2012 at 7:21 PM

Is there any need for the View folder after precompilation of .cshtml files? I have successfully deleted the View folder in my latest project and it seems to run fine. I am just wondering if there any implications doing that, especially by removing the web.config file that resides in the folder.

I forgot to mention that I use aspnet_compiler.exe, so there are no .generated.cs files in the View folder, just .cshtml and the web.config

Yes, you should be fine without those files, since our view engine only relies on the compiled code and not the view files. Well, we do support a scenario where we check for the presence of newer view files and use that instead of the compiled view, but clearly that's not what you're after in your scenario.
